Google Working on Its Own Smartphone to Take on iPhone
Google might soon launch its own branded Android smartphone. The Mountain View giant is said to be in discussions with mobile operators about the new Google-branded smartphone which may see light of the day by year end.
The move to launch its own Android smartphone is said to have more control over design apart from the software as well as to end the dominance of Apple's iPhone in high-end segment. The Telegraph citing people familiar with the discussions reports that the new Google-branded handset will "extend the company's move into hardware."
"The new device, which will be released by the end of the year according to a senior source, will see Google take more control over design, manufacturing and software," adds the report. Google's CEO Sunder Pichai has been declining any plans to make Google-branded smartphones right now and has been stressing that the company will continue to collaborate with its partners on the Nexus range, with greater customisations. Google's move to make self-branded smartphones may also make the Nexus program irrelevant for OEMs.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai's Quora account appears to have been hacked by a group called OurMine. This is not the first time OurMine have targeted a high-profile executive. They previously broke into Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg'sTwitter and Pinterest accounts earlier this month.
OurMine is attempting to rebrand itself as a 'security firm' and said they are trying to support these people so these incidents don't occur again.
"We are just testing security people , we never change their passwords, we did it because there is other hackers can hack them and change everything," told OurMine to The Next Web.
Apple iOS 10 is finally here and it promises a variety of new features from a smarter Siri to interactive Messages. Here's a quick look.
iOS 10 is finally here with users and developers getting a first glimpse at the new version of Apple’s OS for iPhones, iPads and iPods at the annual WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC 2016).
Apple CEO Tim Cook called it “the mother of all releases” as it packs 10 major new features for iOS.
This version of the mobile OS also signals an Apple that is more open, as Message and Siri SDKs will be made accessible to third-party app developers. So what does iOS 10 offer and when exactly will be available? Will it be compatible with your current iOS device? Here’s a detailed look at all those answers.
Availability and Compatibility:
First up, the developer preview of iOS 10 is now available to iOS Developer Program members at developer.apple.com. Just like with iOS 9, a public beta program will be available to iOS users in July at beta.apple.com.
iOS 10 will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone 5 and later, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini 2 and later, and iPod touch 6th generation.
Messages will be much more fun:
If you look at the iOS 10 page on the Apple website, Messages occupies the most important part of the upgrade, and it’s not surprising. Apple says Messages is the most frequently used iOS app, and this time it gets an upgrade to make it all fun.
Apple is adding animations like balloons, confetti or fireworks that can take over an entire screen to celebrate a special occasion, invisible ink to send a message which is only revealed after a friend swipes over it, and handwritten notes option for more a personal touch.
Emojis will play a big role in the new update Messages app, and iOS 10 will automatically suggest emojis that can replace a particular word in a message. Think words like Happy, Excited, Sad; you can now just go for an emoji instead with a simple tap. It also means you don’t have to keep scrolling forever in the keyboard to find the right emoji.
Tapback is the new feature which let users respond with a simple tap. Users can also send rich links to play content inline (even Apple Music links or open entire articles) without actually leaving the conversation thread.
Apple is also opening up Messages to developers so they can create apps, other experiences within Messages to let users do more in the chat threads. Just like Facebook Messenger wants to add its own App Store, Messages in iOS will have also one. As Apple VP Craig Federighi showed in the demo, it will be possible for users to order food collectively from a group thread in Messages, and even do payments using some of these special apps.
Messages will also support GIFs, ability to edit photos. There’s also a feature called Digital Touch Mode, where users can create fun videos/photos and send them in the app.
Siri gets Smarter and more open:
As was predicted, Apple is opening up Siri to third-party developers by making the SDK available to them. This means app developers can now create commands letting Siri interact with their app. Users will able to call for a cab in Uber or book a table on OpenTable, by using the Hey Siri command.
Apple’s SiriKit will help developers design their apps to work with Siri for messaging, phone calls, photo search, ride booking, personal payments and workouts, or use Siri to control CarPlay apps, access climate controls or adjust radio settings within automakers’ apps.
iPhone and iPad users will find that Siri will be able to do lot more on their devices with iOS 10 update.
Maps:
Apple Maps has also been redesigned and will now have a slide up tab showing time to work, calendar appointments etc. Apple is adding its ‘proactive assistance’ feature to Maps to help figure out your route, based on appointments or daily routine.
Apple Maps also gets new extensions, and again third-party apps can be integrated with Maps. In the US, apps like OpenTable will integrate bookings right into Maps, and services like Uber and Lyft will also be integrated. Google Maps in India is already integrated with Uber, Ola and shows cab options as well. Hopefully the upgrade Apple Maps with extensions will be available to users across the globe.
Once a route is planned, Maps can search for gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and more and provides an estimate of how the stop impacts the length of the trip. In India, Maps doesn’t support all these features yet.
Photos:
Photos gets an upgrade in iOS 10 to become smarter and help people find photos from forgotten occasions. Memories as Apple calls it, will scan photos and videos and finds forgotten events, trips and people, and puts them in all in one collection. Sort of what Google is doing with its own Photos app.
There’s also the Memory Movie, which is an automatically edited movie with theme music, titles and cinematic transitions.
Apple’s Craig Federighi explained the company is relying on advanced computer vision, facial recognition techniques, object and scene recognition to create these ‘Memories.’ Apple insists that Memories does not compromise user privacy.
Home App:
HomeKit App will now be replaced by a simpler Home app, and this is mostly for those who have a smart home. Home will be a one-stop app to manage all those smart accessories in the house, be it the lights or the curtains. And yes, users can also control them via Siri. Users can also set up automatic triggers according to time of day or action. For most users based in India, this might not be so relevant.
Privacy:
We know privacy is a top-agenda for Apple, and the recent FBI standoff made this quite clear. Apple says in iOS iMessage, FaceTime, and HomeKit will use end-to-end encryption to protect user data, making sure it can’t be read by anyone, not Apple or third-parties.
Apple also says it will use “on-device intelligence” to identify the people, objects and scenes in Photos, and power QuickType suggestions. Additionally data sent from Siri, Maps, News etc won’t be used to build user profiles, even though it will sent to Apple’s Servers.
iOS 10 will see Apple use a technology called Differential Privacy to help discover the usage patterns of a large number of users without compromising individual privacy. Apple says this will help them improve QuickType and emoji suggestions, Spotlight deep link suggestions and Lookup Hints in Notes.
Apple Music:
Apple Music has been redesigned to make it easier to use. The Library, For You, Browse and Radio tabs have been revamped
Apple News:
The News app has also been redesigned with a new “For You” section, support for breaking news notifications and paid subscriptions.
iOS 10 User Experience:
The new ‘Raise to Wake’ function automatically wakes the screen as you raise your iPhone. Lock Screen is now more interactive with richer notifications, which display entire texts, photos, videos.
There’s also a deeper 3D Touch integration with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus for apps like Weather, Stocks, Calendar.
QuickType:
A smart Siri will offer QuickType option adding contextual predictions when you’re typing based on relevant information. Predictive typing now supports multiple languages without switching keyboards.
Phone app:
In iOS 10, the Phone app adds integration for third-party VoIP calls, voicemail transcription and a new caller ID extension for spam alerts. Apple says it will work internationally, and hopefully in India too.
Safari:
Safari now supports split-view for iPad.
Notes:
Users can now collaborate on a Note, sort of like how sharing works on Google Docs.
Live Photos:
Live Photos can now be edited, and come with inbuilt stabilisation.
Apple Pay:
Apple Pay is being extended to websites on Safari, in addition to paying in-stores and within apps.

Started in 2005 by Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim and Steve Chan, Youtube is currently world’s most popular video sharing website. According to Google, which bought the website in 2006, over 800 million users visit YouTube every month, over three billion hours of videos are watched every month and over 72 hours of video content is uploaded every minute. In the recent years, the website has tried to attract more professional video content producers. It has tied up with several Hollywood studios and gives people a share in the advertisement revenue if they sign up for the Youtube partner programme to produce exclusive content for the website.
With its reach and popularity, it has also emerged as a repository of first-person account. For example in the case of 2011 tsunami in Japan, videos shot by amateur people appeared on Youtube minutes after the disaster. At the same time, its growing popularity has forced it to deal with several contentious issues like copyright infringement, which is considered to be rampant on the website as users often upload copied video content without any regard for the rights of original producers.
YouTube's Messaging App
YouTube is testing a messaging feature in its smartphone app so people can share and discuss videos without resorting to other ways to connect with their friends and family.
The messaging option announced Friday initially is only being offered to a small group of people with YouTube's app installed on an iPhone or device running on Google's Android software. If all goes well, messaging will be included in a future app update available to everyone with an iPhone or an Android phone.
YouTube, part of Alphabet Inc.'s Google, is examining whether the messaging feature will encourage its audience to spend even more time inside its popular video app.
Currently, people typically copy links to YouTube and paste them into text messages or other messaging apps such as Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
By removing a reason for its audience to switch over to another app, YouTube can generate more opportunities to show ads to the more than 1 billion people who watch video on its service.
WhatsApp, owned by Facebook Inc., has more than 1 billion users, while Facebook's own Messenger app has more than 900 million users, posing a threat to other digital services vying for people's attention.
Snapchat is smaller, with about 100 million daily users, but growing rapidly, particularly among teenagers and young adults who tend to watch a lot of video on their smartphones.
Here's comparison of different smartphones of different companies. Just see to it and decide which suits your need better.
If you want smartphone less than 10k, then only Swipe Elite Plus can suits your need. It is having 13MP rear camera, and 8MP front camera with Octa-core processor. Additional advantage with Elite Plus is you will get 100GB cloud storage, along with 3050mAh battery. Additionally it is the only device having OTG.
USB OTG (USB On The Go) is a standard that enables mobile devices to talk to one another. Traditionally mobile devices could only connect to a Mac/PC by USB, but USB OTG makes it possible for devices to connect directly to each other.
See through it, analyze it (according to your requirement), then buy your best buddy. Don't become fool.
After the launch of LG G5 handset this spring and Google’s launch of final version of Project Ara , there has been much talk of modular smartphones. Modular smartphones differ from regular mobiles in many aspects, as they are made up of "building block" design i.e., made up of various interchangeable modules containing different hardware components. These can be switched quickly and easily to boost performance or replace faulty parts.
Concept of modular smartphones was given by a Dutch designer, Dave Hakkens, whose Phonebloks mobile is based on a set of small modules (processor, hard disk, camera, etc.) that can be easily changed and updated. Once assembled, they form a smartphone with varying levels of performance and functionality, a bit like a desktop PC. As well as making savings for users, a modular design can also help counter planned obsolescence in smartphones.
Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group (ATAP) get inspired from the idea and developed Project Ara. Initially presented as a similar project to Phonebloks, comprising almost as many modules as a smartphone has components, the handset evolved, little by little, into a slightly less ambitious prototype presented at the last Google I/O conference in Mountain View, California.
It now takes the form of a smartphone with just six interchangeable modules, including a second display, a camera, memory, a speaker, etc. The screen, processor and RAM are all grouped together in one core block that cannot be modified. A developers' kit is due to be released later this year, ahead of a planned consumer launch in 2017.
The only modular smartphone currently available in market is LG G5. It was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, back in February,2016. This handset has a slide-out bottom for changing the battery in just a few seconds. As well as its removable battery, additional interchangeable elements can be added to the phone, such as camera and audio modules. The LG G5 is out now priced at around US $650.
“Be careful of saying, ‘we’ve got the best security in the world’. Doing so would be seen by hackers as a challenge.”
Mr. Allan
After almost four years of debate, the European Union passed the General Data Protection Regulation, with the objective to strengthen and unify data protection for individuals within the EU and deal with exporting personal data outside the region.
But what difference - if any - will it make specifically in India?
"It's tough, as there is no holistic legal framework/regulator in the form of data protection authority, data quality and proportionality, data transparency, etc.., which addresses and covers data protection issues in accordance with the principles of the EU Directive, OECD Guidelines or Safe Harbor Principles," says Krishnan , chief risk officer, Reliance Life Insurance Company Ltd.
“Research Company Gartner predicts there will be 6.8 billion connected devices in use in 2016, a 30 percent increase over 2015. By 2020, that number will jump to more than 20 billion connected devices, predicts Gartner. Put another way, for every human being on the planet, there will be between two and three connected devices.”
Responding forcefully to attempted security breaches is often very difficult for a variety of reasons:
¡Identifying attackers is difficult
¡The sheer number of attempted attacks is so large that organisations cannot spend time pursuing each attacker
¡Law enforcement officers are often unfamiliar with information technology, and so lack the skills and interest in pursuing attackers.
¡Budgetary constraints
National Cyber Security Policy
A policy framework by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY).
¡ Aims at protecting the public and private infrastructure from cyber attacks.
Intends to safeguard "information, such as personal information (of web users), financial and banking information and sovereign data".
Krishnan suggests that the government appoint a regulatory body to govern data confidentiality across public, private and individual parties.
A fine balance between what the consumer wants and what the country needs is most essential, as it would ensure the policy framework is transparent and guidelines are followed.
Henceforth,"No new regulation is required for India regarding data protection or data breach disclosure," he says. "The government needs only revisit its existing IT Act 2008 and impress data protection obligations upon Indian companies and find a way to help them adhere to them."
Google had organized 3 days event at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Event had been organized on May 18,19,20. Registration for event began from March 8. Sundar Pichai was keynote speaker. Google did not give any information about hardware giveaway in the event. Here's list of some of the significant announcement's made in the event.
Android N
The new JIT compiler. Not only does it speed up system updates but also improves app install times by a whopping 75%.
Multi-Window support. Even though Samsung and some Xposed modules have already brought this to Android, native multi-window support is a pretty significant update.
The new update system - Similar to how Chrome handles updates. A new update, when available, will be downloaded in the background and will seamlessly update the old system image with the new one, keeping your apps and data intact. This means no more ‘Android is starting’ and ‘Optimizing apps’ dialogues after an update!
Daydream
Google’s platform for creating rich VR experiences on Android devices. Google has created a basic reference design for a VR headset and remote for other manufacturers. VR will also be heavily supported in Android N, with OS-level optimizations allowing latency to drop to only 20ms for a butter-smooth performance. Also, Android N will feature a VR based interface and also a full dedicated app market in Google Play for VR.
Google Assistant
Google Now is getting a lot smarter now with intelligent detection of contexts. Two way conversation while understanding your context. For example, if you ask Google “Where is the Taj Mahal?” and after that “How old is it?”, it intelligently learns the context of what you are referring to. Pretty cool, eh?
Firebase
A brand new Firebase SDK, launching today, will work on Android, iOS and the web. It has got a slew of new features like Firebase crash reporting which help to identify issues and bugs and take action on them accordingly. It should help developers see app crashes updating in real time. Also there are other tools in the SDK which help developers send specific targeted notifications to users without writing a single line of code and a remote configuration tool which helps in app testing and experimenting at scale.
Android Studio 2.2
A new layout editor, constraint layouts which help build UIs for multiple screens and resolutions easily. Enhanced support for C++. cmake and NDK build support apart from Gradle. Also there is Test recording which will help you test your app locally or in a cloud and will give you an auto-generated signed report.
Android Instant Apps
Use an app (rather specific parts of it) without even installing it. Once implemented in your app, even clicking on a link pertaining to your app will download only those specific parts or modules of the app from Google Play and run them. There would also be an install option if the user wishes to install. A big big step forward.
Android Wear 2.0
Pretty cool new features like support for cellular data, using it seamlessly even when the phone is not with you or even switched off for that matter. Introduction of standalone apps is also a really awesome addition. One can also now customize watch faces easily now as Android Wear 2.0 allows you to display only the information you want on your watch face. New features also include a keyboard and smart-reply similar to what Google Inbox has to offer.
Advancements in Machine Learning, Natural language Processing and AI.
If there was one thing that Google was determined to announce and show at Google I/O was their advancements in Machine Learning, AI and Natural Language Processing. Google has open-sourced parts of its TensorFlow and Cloud Platform APIs allowing developers to access its Computer Vision APIs. Google has also made progress in the robotics field, an example of which showed us robotic arms picking up specific things without any special programmed instructions (that’s the power of Deep Learning for you!) Google has also started building specialized hardware called Tensor Processing Units or TPUs which was the same hardware that powered AlphaGo in its match against Lee Sedol (again, Deep Learning, Machine Learning and AI together in tandem!) They displayed their prowess and progress consistently throughout the keynote and these three are definitely going to be kinda the 3 pillars which they intend to build on.
Google Home
Google Home is just a small speaker that sits in your living room, bedroom, kitchen or just about anywhere you want it to. So what’s so special about this speaker? Well, you can do pretty much everything you can do with Google Now (Google Assistant?) on the Google Home, totally hands-free!Wanna see your calendar appointments, make new ones, make reservations at places? You can literally just ask Google Home to do so.Integration with Nest will enable controlling the lights, thermostats, etc. and integration with Chromecast and Chromecast Audio will enable controlling your media devices like TVs at home, just with your voice!
Android Apps are coming to ChromeOS
After months of speculation, Google finally announced that Android Apps can now run natively run on ChromeOS. The apps will run just like they would on a phone or tablet, albeit maybe with a different orientation. What’s more is that Google Play Services too, will be making their way over to ChromeOS! This means the gigantic and ever increasing catalog of apps available for Android would also now be available for ChromeOS!
Allo
Allo is Google’s newest messaging app. Its got some pretty nice features like Google Assistant integration, Snapchat-like photo inking, end-to-end encryption (in incognito mode) and WhisperShout with which you can change the font size of that particular message to make an impression. Although this looks to be a nicely built app from the first look, Google is very very late to the messaging app party and It doesn't really seems people will switch over and adopt Allo anytime soon.
Duo
Google’s latest video calling app. Some nice features include reliable performance on slower networks and some gimmicks like ‘Knock-Knock’ which allows the receiver to see the caller or whatever the caller chooses to show, on the other side. Once again, this app too has some serious competition, It is expected to be more adopted by users then Allo.
Tesla Motors Chief Executive Elon Musk expects Apple may soon become competitor to Tesla. He said Apple could bring its own electric vehicles into production as soon as 2020.
Apple will “probably make a good car and be successful,” Mr Musk said at Vox Media Inc.’s Code Conference here on Wednesday. “They should have embarked on the car project sooner.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple was working on an electric car project and had assigned it a 2019 ship date, which can mean the time when engineers are expected to sign off on the project, not deliver a product. Apple hasn’t confirmed it is working on a car.
“It’s great Apple is doing this, and I hope it works out,” Mr Musk said to laughter in the audience. He said the market is big enough for multiple competitors.
An Apple spokesman declined to comment on Mr Musk’s remarks.
Mr Musk said he expected to compete with traditional automakers in electric vehicles, and added Alphabet Inc.’s Google wasn’t likely to make cars itself, in favor of licensing its technology to others. Google executives have said that is their strategy.
Mr Musk said he expected fully autonomous vehicles to be technically possible within two years, though regulators would likely take an additional year to approve broad use of such autos.
The 44-year-old entrepreneur said he hoped to die one day on Mars. “If you’re going to choose where to die, then Mars is not a bad choice,” he said.
On Thursday after a two week trial, a federal jury has announced their verdict for the Oracle vs Google trial. They have ruled that Google’s Android operating system does not infringe Oracle-owned copyrights, because the re-implementation of Java’s 37 API’s by Google is protected by “fair use”. This verdict was reached after 3 days of discussions.
The Verdict
There was only one question of the special verdict form, which asked whether Google’s use of Java’s API’s was under “fair use” of copyright law. The jury unanimously voted “yes”. This ended the trial because if the jury had answered in Oracle’s favor, they would have gone into a “damages phase” to determine the extent of damages Google would be liable to pay.
Initial estimates put the damages that Google would’ve to pony up at a whopping $9 billion.
After the conclusion of the trial, Google’s spokesperson said via email:
“Today’s verdict that Android makes fair use of Java APIs represents a win for the Android ecosystem, for the Java programming community, and for software developers who rely on open and free programming languages to build innovative consumer products”.
Oracle did not back down from this loss and promised an appeal. Dorian Daley, Oracle’s general counsel hit back:
“We strongly believe that Google developed Android by illegally copying core Java technology to rush into the mobile device market. Oracle brought this lawsuit to put a stop to Google’s illegal behavior. We believe there are numerous grounds for appeal and we plan to bring this case back to the Federal Circuit on appeal”.
During the trial, the jury heard the testimonies from Google’s, Sun’s and Oracle’s current and former CEOs, computer experts from the companies and loyal programmers.
The real argument
Oracle argued during the trial that they (Google) copied parts of their Java API packages and declaring the development as a “shortcut at Oracle’s expense”. As Android gained popularity, Oracle’s Java licensing business centered around feature phones went down.
“They copied 11,500 lines of code. It’s undisputed. They took the code, they copied it, and put it right into Android.” – Peter Bicks, Oracle’s attorney
Google countered that the Java language was free to use and this also includes the re-implementation of its APIs. Sun Microsystems CEO accepted Android as a legitimate and competitive product. Oracle’s CEO Larry Ellison welcomed Android at first but then changed his mind after he tried to build his own smartphone using Java but failed to do so, according to Robert Van Nest, Google’s attorney.
‘Project Loon’ is a very innovative idea of Google. Under the Project Loon Google will be using big balloons floating at a height of 20 kilometers above earth surface for transmission of Internet services. Google has already tested this technology in New Zealand, California (the US), Sri Lanka, Australia and Brazil.
Internet giant Google and Indian Government are working together on this pilot project for providing Internet connectivity by using large balloons. Project Loon aims to provide 4G LTE internet connectivity in "remote and rural areas".
To provide internet connectivity Project Loon uses helium-filled balloons floating 20 km above the earth's surface (or about twice the cruising altitude of commercial jetliners.) Signals from each balloon can cover a diameter of 40 km on the ground, and a network of balloons in the stratosphere is envisaged for seamless connectivity.
“Google approached government to set up the Loon project and Drone-based Internet transmission. Government has approved testing of Loon project only as of now. A committee under chairmanship of Secretary, DEITY, has been formed to work on it,” an official source informed.
The technology, used for 4G services, has potential to replace mobile towers as it can directly transmit signals on 4G mobile phones. It is expected that project loons might cause big loss to telecomm companies.
After many bureaucratic run-ins over its ambitious plan to provide internet connectivity using high-altitude balloons, Google may be close to conducting a pilot of Project Loon in India. The location of the pilot is expected to be in Andhra Pradesh or Maharashtra.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been tasked with the job of zeroing in on the location and other requirements for the pilot. Discussions between Google's Loon team and NIC are expected to happen this week.
Last week, Motorola launched its much awaited duo of budget smartphones, the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus . After launch event company has put some information on its webpage about Android O, which has now has been taken down.
Moto G4 is Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based handsets feature almost the same set of specifications, with some minor changes.
The Moto G4 Plus is available at price of Rs 13,499 for the 16GB in-built storage+2GB RAM version, while the 32GB in-built storage+3GB RAM variant has been priced at 14,999. The company did not reveal the price of the Moto G4 at the launch event, but said that it will be available in June.
Soon after the launch, the official website went live for millions of web users. The company in one of its webpage has written Moto G4 will be running the upcoming Android N but will also be eligible for Android O.
We know very well that yet Google hasn't provided complete details regarding Android N so search giant is far from even confirming any details about existence of Android O. Although Motorola accidentally not only revel about existence of Android O but has also confirmed work is already going on it.
Both Google and Motorola might not reveal anything about the next version of the Android OS until next year, provided Google is still asking users to vote for their favourite Android OS names starting with 'N'. However, it is likely that Nexus and Motorola Moto G4 users might be among the first to receive Android O whenever Google plans to roll it out.
To extract scientist within us Google has launched a new app that turns our phone into a powerful little research lab. The app calledScience Journal, uses the sensors in phone to measure and record data in real time, including movement, light and sound.
With this app Google has once again proved that smartphone is not only about games, Whatsapp etc, Smartphone can be much more than that. The Android app puts a research lab in our pocket, making it possible to use smartphone’s sensors in ways that may not otherwise be readily accessible. As well, Science Journal can be used to store observational notes, generate graphs, and more.
In 3 words we can describe Google’s Science Journal as ‘doing science simple.’
The app uses tools like phone’s ambient light sensor for light intensity comparisons. App also let user measures how loud a noise is and comparing it to other noises, and recording other things from environment.
We can also add our own photos and notes to our projects, adding extra details or reminders for our future self. When we add data, the app will generate graphs of it in real time, which we can use to compare the data to the results from other projects. The app uses sensors we’ll find on our phone like accelerometer, microphone, and such.
To help kids get started with their own science experiments in these summer breaks, Google has partnered with exploratorium to create“getting started” activities, guiding users through light and audio investigations, using Science Journal with physical devices to record data (wind spinners, in this case), and how to record motions. The app is available now on Google Play Store.
Interior design and decorating resource Houzz is the overall best Android app of the year, according to Google, which announced the results of the first-ever Google Play Awards at its developer conference, Google I/O. While in previous years, the company had rounded up large numbers of apps for “Best of” lists, the new Google Play Awards instead follows Apple’s model of selecting winners across a variety of categories.
But where Apple chooses best apps for phone, tablet, and watch, along with selections like “most innovative,” Google took a somewhat different path. It selected 5 nominees across 10 categories, and didn’t differentiate between those built for tablet or phone.
Google also nominated apps that reflected a group of developers who were taking the best advantage of Google’s services, like “Best Use of Google Play Game Services,” plus those who did the best job of implementing Google’s newer design language, Material Design.
And Google didn’t limit itself to only one category focused on innovation, but chose several angles – including not only the “most innovative” app, but also “Standout Startup” and “Early Adopter. The move was likely meant to signal that not all of the best and most creative new apps are exclusive to iOS, or launched on iOS first.
The company live-streamed the ceremony this evening from Google I/O, which was also a change from previous years.
On stage, the company spoke of Google Play’s evolution and noted that the online storefront now reaches over a billion users daily. Apps are obviously a huge draw for this store – earlier this week, Google said that app installs from Google Play had reached 65 billion in the past year.
The winning apps were chosen by a panel of experts at Google, and rated on several factors, including app quality and innovation. To be considered, the apps either needed to have launched or had a major update over the last 12 months.
Houzz ended up winning the “Best App” title, beating out BuzzFeed News, Colorfy, TuneIn Radio and Yummly.

Google has patented a sticky coating, which is to be used for cars that could reduce damage done to pedestrians in the event of a collision. This is a special coating which has sticking properties in it. People whose accident occur will struck by the vehicle would become glued to its bonnet, rather than being thrown off and further injured.
This is a major patent for mankind it will save life of millions of people who dies every year in road accident.
"It does have some merit to it, When pedestrian accidents happen, often the person is thrown up onto the bonnet and there may be injuries from that contact, but sometimes there are not. But when a driver brakes in a collision, a totally natural reaction, the pedestrian is thrown onto the ground and you can get injuries from that contact." said Andrew Morris, Professor of Human Factors in Transport Safety at Loughborough University.
According to Google's patent the adhesive layer would be hidden under a protective coating, to ensure it did not gather debris during journeys.
"Upon the initial impact between the colliding object and the vehicle, the coating is broken, exposing the adhesive layer," the patent document said.
Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said: "As well as developing new technology that prevents pedestrians from being hit in the first place, it's also crucial to develop ways of reducing the severity of injuries suffered if a pedestrian is knocked over. This idea is a fascinating example of just how far vehicle technology is changing," he told.
Google today at I/O conference announced a new Messaging Allo, Allo is a smart messaging app that makes your conversations easier and more expressive. It’s based on your phone number, so you can get in touch with anyone in your phonebook, very similar to WhatsApp but with deeply integrated machine learning, It has smart features to keep your conversations flowing and help you get things done.
Google Allo on Playstore
The company still has an entirely separate platform, Hangouts, which is built in to Android phones, as well as a number of lesser-used predecessors including Gchat and the now-defunct Wave. But Allo also represents a fresh start for Google, allowing the company to offer end-to-end encryption for the first time. That decision will throw it headfirst into conflict with the FBI, standing alongside Apple and Facebook against the US government’s desire to read the text messages of criminal suspects.
It’s still less secure than iMessage or WhatsApp, however, requiring users to actively opt-in to end-to-end encryption through an “incognito mode”. But security isn’t the main selling point of Allo. Instead, that’s the built-in chatbots, including Google Assistant itself: Allo users will be able to use Assistant to find extra information or send auto-generated replies. Impressively, it can even parse images, leading to the (perhaps overly specific) suggestion of “Nice Bernese mountain dog” as one such reply.
Allo also features the Google assistant, bringing the richness of Google directly into your chats—helping you find information, get things done, and have fun. You can chat one-on-one with the assistant, or call on Google in a group chat with friends. Either way, you no longer have to jump between apps to do things like book a dinner reservation with friends, get up-to-date sports scores, settle a bet, or play a game. The assistant in Allo lets you bring things like Search, Maps, YouTube and Translate to all your conversations, so that you and your friends can use Google together.
We will post a video reviewing Allo as soon as it will be available on play store, so don't forget to subscribe our youtube channel.
