  • Le Max 2 : Camera Review

Powered with Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and no 3.5 MM audio jack, Le Max 2 is one of most exciting and  astonishing smartphone that you get your hand on right now. So today we will get a in depth look at the less talked feature of flagship device from LeEco, its camera.
The Le Max 2 comes with a 21 megapixel rear (primary) camera, which will take extremely high resolution photos. While its 8 megapixel front camera makes it a great choice for selfies. It can capture 4K high definition video with its primary camera, the highest resolution current smartphones support.
    The Front Camera

The camera's max lens aperture size on the LeEco Le Max 2 is about average for smartphones. This isn't a huge factor, but some photo enthusiasts may prefer larger apertures for shallow depth of field photos, or fast action shots.

LeEco Le Max 2 utilizes the same Sony IMX 230 sensor with 21MP resolution we saw on the Meizu Pro 6, Pro 5 and the Moto X Force. It is capable of 5312x3984px snaps in 4:3 aspect. The auto focus uses a hybrid system, incorporating phase detect auto focus in addition to the regular contrast detect system.

The camera UI is simple and you can swipe through the different modes - Photo, Pano, Video and Slow-mo. Live Filters are available, too.In the Photo mode settings you can tweak the ISO, exposure, white balance, contrast, pictures size, among other non-essential stuff.

The HDR mode is meant to get an even wider exposure of a scene - bringing back detail in both the highlights and the shadows. The Le Max 2 does a very good job of bringing back detail in tricky scenes. It's one of the better HDR algorithms we've seen.

Here are some more LeEco Le Max 2 camera samples.

    The Front Facing Camera

Finally, you can check out these 8MP images taken with the front-facing camera of the device. Naturally, it's a fixed-focus one but the focus seems fixed way too close to the camera and unless your head fills the frame, your selfies won't come out nice and sharp.

It's a rather nice camera, but it's ruined by its implementation. You can still get some pretty nice selfies if your work with its limitations.

    The Videos

Le Eco Le Max 2 shoots videos up to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160px) at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30fps. There's no 60fps option.

The 4K videos (41Mbps bitrate) produced by the Le Max 2 are really good. The resolved detail is great, as well as contrast and colors. There is an unusual amount of noise in the shadows even in broad daylight so we'd guess this issue would only get worse once it gets darker. The corner softness, which we witnessed on many of the sample photos we took is, in fact, visible on some of the video samples as well.

The audio recording is stereo, but is recorded at 96Kbps bitrate and it sounds quite shallow. The 1080p videos are good as well with great contrast, an average level of detail and nice colors.

    Conclusion

The 21-megpaixel sensor gets optical image stabilization and a closed-loop motor for better PDAF performance. The camera is quick to lock focus when you change your frame, without needing you to tap the screen. There is some degree of shutter lag as we noticed a slight blur in some images. The bottom line is that the sensor produces well detailed landscapes and macros with neutral colours. In low light and under artificial lightning, chroma noise is well within bounds although the detail level of distant objects isn't the best. 4K and full-HD videos are good although the sensor fails to re-adjust focus when you pan, thereby forcing you to tap the screen manually. Slow-motion video is shot at 720p at 120fps, but the quality is not great.

Le Max 2 : Camera Comparison

The camera app could also use some tweaking. While it's simple and straightforward, it feels incomplete without a professional shooting mode, especially when you have a good sensor. There's panorama mode, filters and voice control. The settings menu also lets you adjust white balance, ISO and exposure, but it's not presented in the most convenient way.

  • LeEco's Le2 - An Impressive Challenger to Samsung Galaxy J7 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

LeEco's Le2 - An Impressive Challenger to Samsung Galaxy J7 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

It's a virtual war in India's burgeoning smartphone market especially in the mid-segment category, where most smartphone manufacturers are seeing growth coming from. A research report from Cyber Media Research (CMR), suggests that for the first time in India, the average selling price of smartphones rose 25% year-on-year, with the mid-range category, 10-15k becoming more popular to beat the budget category, 6-8k. This has resulted in consumers being swamped with options, leaving them spoilt for choices but also bewildered and confused at the same time.

LeEco's recently launched Superphone Le 2 has taken the sub-15k category by storm. Owing to its powerful processor, best-in-class design and revolutionary CDLA technology which has taken audio experience in smartphones to a whole new level, Le 2 is a tough competitor to its peers such as Samsung Galaxy J7 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

From a consumer standpoint, it is now more important than ever that a smartphone exceeds all expectations across categories - display, camera quality, storage capacity and aesthetics among others. And Le 2 ticks all boxes here which makes it a headliner among smartphones in this category as per technology experts.

And here's what makes this all possible -

Processor: Powerful and delivers a seamless performance
Le 2's performance is considerably enhanced from the earlier models and complementing its 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage is the powerful Octa-Core Qualcomm ® Snapdragon ™ 652, the fastest processor in this price segment. On the other hand, Redmi Note 3 is powered by 1.4GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and comes with 2GB RAM and packs 16GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy J7 is backed by 1.5GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 7580 processor and comes with 1.5GB RAM and packs 16GB internal storage. With these specifications, Le 2 promises to deliver an unmatched experience to users without any issues of their smartphone lagging.
Le 2 clearly wins hands down when one looks at its processor and storage capacity, making multi-tasking a delight for users!

    DisplayBig and Bright
One of the most important aspects that users consider when deciding on a smartphone is the display quality it offers, that majorly dictates how their overall experience with the phone will be.
LeEco's Le 2 flaunts a 5.5 inch Full HD display and comes with an in-cell display screen which is usually featured with flagship phones.

The screen's blue light filter helps reduce eye fatigue, while at the same time; the in-cell screen allows devices to be thinner and lighter.
Here again, Le 2 stands out with its amazing display, making viewing experience for users an excellent one!

Additionally, Le 2 has an edge with its content proposition and flaunts the world's first CDLA technology, patented by LeEco that gives users benefits that no one smartphone offers! Le 2 comes bundled with one year LeEco Membership that gives users access to big ticket international live concerts, exclusive live streaming of major entertainment events and music concerts worldwide among other benefits.

Le 2 also incorporates the world's first CDLA Standard that enables end-to-end lossless digital music transmission. The Superphone adds a whole new dimension to the future of smartphones by taking a leap into the next big thing in audio technology - Continual Lossless Digital Audio (CLDA) technology that has made the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack redundant.

  • LeEco Le Max 2 Pro Specifications & Expectations

LeEco, formerly known as LeTV, released its Le Max Pro in February this year and recently LeEco has also launched LeEco Le Max 2.

    Le Max 2 : Review
    Overview of Le Max 2
The phone runs on the Android operating system, which is currently the most popular platform on the market. The Le Max 2 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is the newest Android version available. EUI 5.6, by LeEco, runs on top of Android on this device, offering a customized experience.

    Le Max 2 : Custom Skin 5.6
Le Max2 inexplicably forgoes a 3.5mm headphone jack despite having plenty of room for one. This is clearly an attempt to beat Apple to the punch, but I just can’t see how the target audience of LeEco’s newest phones would be happy with this move. LeEco says the phones have the “world’s first Type-C audio connector” but, as I mentioned before, beating Apple isn’t very beneficial if your audience isn’t going to appreciate the move.

    Design
While using, the first glance of Le Max 2 for us was unexplainable. Seriously, a premium unibody metal built using aluminum perfectly packed in the stunning package. Only two thin edges above and below on the back are made of plastic in order to ensure good reception. But, they are appealing and hardly distinguishable from the metal. Moreover, the metal frame is sanded on the edges further explicating its beauty. Sadly, the back can not be opened, thus making the battery non-removable.

    Le Lax 2 : Bottom
At the bottom of Le Max 2 there are speakers along with USB type C connector. While at right side there are power buttons that are located just below volume control button.

Le Max 2 : Right Side

    Le Max 2 : Back
At the back, there is 21MP rear camera, fingerprint scanner and A dual tone LED. Lemax 2 is easy to hold and operate with single despite of having massive 5.7inch WQHD screen, the video playback quality is good on this device and a s it comes with dolby atmos, Le Max 2 is made for people who love to use there smartphone for entertainment.

Le Max 2 : Camera and Fingerprint OverView
The Le Max 2 houses a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 MSM8996 system on a chip. Its CPU runs at 2.15 GHz, which is much higher than average for a smartphone processor. With 4 GB of RAM, the Le Max 2 has much more memory than other phones released in 2016.

Le Max 2 : Left side

  • LeEco likely to bring video-on-demand to India on May 3

LeEco likely to bring video-on-demand to India on May 3
Chinese entertainment conglomerate LeEco -- formerly LeTV -- is set to host a launch event in India's entertainment capital Mumbai on May 3. There has been lots of speculation around this event with multiple reports suggesting that the company would bring its recently launched Le 2, Le 2 pro and Le Max 2 phones to India on May 3. The chances of that happening are however very slim.

Sources have told India Today Online that LeEco may go ahead and do something entirely different. This is not to say that the Le 2, Le 2 pro and Le Max 2 phones won't be coming to India. They will, just not right now.
So, what exactly is LeEco up to? We know that back home in China, the company is known for its content ecosystem, for which it is also called the Netflix of China. While launching its debut Le 1S and Le Max phones in India in January, the company had also announced its tie-up with Eros Now for Video-on-demand (VOD) and YuppTV for TV content streaming.
"We're very excited to be the first company to introduce the concept of content ecosystem on mobile devices in India. We have always been proud of our innovative content-integrated ecosystem, and these new collaborations only reiterate our commitment to build the Le Ecosystem in the country. We are confident that this will not only add an entirely new dimension to the user's experience but will change the dynamics of the industry," Atul Jain, COO, Smart Electronics Business, Le Eco India had said.
While partnership with Yupp TV will give users access to YuppTV's catalogue of live TV channels, the tie-up with Eros Now will allow them to watch Bollywood content and regional movies on LeEco phones, on the go. During the launch of the Le 1S and the Le Max it was stressed that the content vis-a-vis these platforms would be pushed out to its phones via a software update, sometime in Q2 2016. Moreover, content would be free to use for at least six months initially after launch, the company had said.
There's a high possibility then that LeEco will announce this new integration on May 3, as also announce the software update roll-out for its phones. The block your date invite sent out to the media also highlights the 'entertainment' aspect of the event, clearly stating that "entertainment will play in a whole new way" on the said date.
There could be a phone launch somewhere down the pipeline as well, although it isn't clear yet whether LeEco will launch either of its new phones or an entirely different one on that day. We will be there in Mumbai when LeEco makes its new announcement(s). Stay tuned for more.
