  • LeEco - Where business and benevolence are in tandem

LeEco Hands over cheque to Akshaya Patra Foundation towards childrens’ midday meal

Bangalore March 31, 2016 : Within  three months of starting  its commercial journey in India, LeEco took its first philanthropic  step by making a significant contribution towards the nutritional support of children by  providing mid-day meals,  a basic necessity that helps them in their schooling.

LeEco employees today handed over a cheque to Akshaya Patra to support their endeavour to feed over a million children, who have the zeal to learn and the potential to contribute to India’s social and economic development.  This initiative was not merely a cash donation, but witnessed active employee participation who volunteered to be part of this meal initiative on LeEco Day.

With this gesture, the internet technology conglomerate fulfils a commitment it made on LeEco Day on Feb 25, to support a mid-day meal for two children for every Le Superphone sold. The mission of The Akshaya Patra Foundation is to reach 5 million children by 2020 and LeEco hopes to continue its association to help them cross this goal.

The phenomenal success of LeEco Day with its bounty of benefits and offers worth Rs. 8 crores, has been touted as one of the largest and most attractive shopping carnivals organized by a smartphone brand.  The association with Akshaya Patra is an acknowledging of the love and admiration it has received in India by generously returning a part of the LeEco Day's proceeds back to the society.

Though LeEco entered the Indian market recently, its Le 1s has become consumers’ favourite in a short span of time. It   continues to be a highly "sought-after" phone on Flipkart, evident from the records the Superphone has broken since its launch in mid-January.  Stunning design, best-in-class technology, compelling features, first of its kind content integration – all of this makes Le1s a leader in its segment.

About LeEco: LeEco, formerly known as Letv, is a global pioneering internet and technology company with multiple internet ecosystems across content, devices, applications and platforms. Founded in November 2004 by Jia Yueting and Liu Hong, LeEco employs more than 10,000 people and is the world’s first video company to go public with a market capitalization of more than $12 billion USD. Headquartered in Beijing, China, it has regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.

With disruptive innovation as the guiding principle, LeEco is engaged in myriad businesses, spanning Internet TV, video production and distribution, smart gadgets and large-screen applications to e-commerce, eco-agriculture and connected super-electric cars.  The company also has one of the world's largest content libraries which includes movies, TV dramas, entertainment shows, sports and music, which can be viewed on LeEco devices like Superphones and Super TVs. Breaking the barriers of innovation, LeEco provides personalized products and services for an enhanced user experience at disruptive prices.

About Akshaya Patra: Akshaya Patra, an NGO that supports the "Mid-day meal" program launched by Government of India feeds over 1.5 million children every day of the school year, in 24 locations, across 10 states in India. For these children, a full meal, even once a day, is a strong incentive to stay in school. This program enables hunger free education and it has led to a significant rise in enrolment and attendance.
  • LeEco Le 1s Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 ? Which One to go For

The LeEco Le 1s and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are two very similar phones, so similar in fact that some of you are unsure of which phone to choose, hopefully this comparison will help you all.

The Le 1s comes with a full-metal body, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Helio X10 Turbo, 13 MP rear-camera and a 5.5-inch FHD display while the Redmi Note 3 has almost the same specs except a Snapdragon 650 processor and a 16 MP rear-camera. So, both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 1s are very similar phones. Which device is better for you?

Well it all depends on your usage and which features are important to you.

Letv Le 1s Redmi Note 3

The CNC-machined alloy body on the LeEco Le 1s feels more premium compared to the simple folded alloy panel on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The Le 1s feels like a quality device in the hand (the slim body plays a small part in this), where as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 feels a bit basic (but still well made). The thicker body of the Xiaomi also means you get a much larger battery but there is not much of a difference battery life.

Both phones have a 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display, where LeEco Le 1s has the better quality display, It also has far superior audio through the its external speakers and earphones.

Performance for gaming and daily usage. Firstly, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a Snapdragon 650 processor while the LeEco Le 1s has a Helio X10 Turbo chipset and comes with  3GB RAM. There is no notable difference in performance between each phone but in gaming, the Le 1s has an edge over the Redmi Note 3.

The rear-facing single touch fingerprint scanner on both phones looks and works exactly the same. It’s a really neat, fast and secure method of unlocking and getting access to your phone. However, the Le 1s' finger print sensor is on higher side as it doubles up as a capture button for selfies!

Letv Le 1s Redmi Note 3

As mentioned above, the LeEco Le 1s is thinner and the CNC-machined body feels like an upmarket chassis, but it means you get a smaller battery. Earlier LeTV X507 ROMs had poor battery life, but like the camera, battery life is improving with each update. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a physically larger battery and from the get go a longer battery life.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs LeEco Le 1s Pros and Cons :

If you think you can live with the camera quality and don’t mind the smaller battery then the LeEco Le 1s is the phone to choose. You will also get a nicer body, better display and much nicer audio.

However, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 benefits from a larger battery, better camera. LeEco Le 1s has better audio and a nicer screen, and premium metal body and it will be our choice for our personal use. Moreover, LeEco is also working on content partnerships to provide a wide variety of digital content on its devices and it has already set up 10 content delivery centers in India. So, LeEco users will soon get this service exclusively on their devices.

    Our Verdict :

Both the LeEco Le 1s and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are amazing devices at their respective price points and have made the Indian mobile phone market even more competitive than before. But with its better form factor, full-metal body, slightly better optics, free content streaming built-in and pricing, the LeEco Le 1s leads for now.
